Who is behind Bliss My Heart? What made you decide to start the project?
Jen: Hey there! I’m Jen, I’m based in Paris, France. I started the BMH project in 2020 in a very synth-pop way with my debut EP Morningstar. I’d always loved music, especially new wave, dark pop, goth music. Later, I started this project in a professional way with French producers Damien Badey and Eddy Rateni at this time. Then today, I just released a new single „Sinner Sinner“, darker, with Cliff Estatof, and Damien Badey helped me to record my voices!
Could you tell us a little about your musical journey so far? How did the two of you come together musically? What connects you? What do you value most about each other?
Jen: I wrote my first songs when I was 11 / 13, inspired by new wave and hard rock. It was kind of a punk project. When I was 18, I started working in the music industry—first as a merch girl, then for six years as an assistant at a music PR agency in France. I met Cliff two and a half years ago. I contacted his brother for another musical project. A few months later, I met his brother, his wife (who became one of my closest friends) and Cliff. We all became friends. Last November, I talked about an old demo I composed and asked Cliff to help me with the project, and „Suffer Well“ was released in January. I was so stoked about the collaboration that I asked him again to help produce „Sinner Sinner“. He sent me a demo with his vocals, and it was so cool that I told him “ We’re keeping your voice no matter what, you have no choice but to sing with me“. Now he’s fully involved in the project, and it’s so cool!
Cliff: I have been playing music since I was 4 years old. I have been in several bands. I am also a singer and composer for the band Space Call. What connects us, I think, is our love for Depeche Mode. Her musical universe, her sincere friendship.

If you had to describe your music in terms of not music, what would you say?
Jen: From my heart with hope and darkness!
Cliff: It’s gloomy popcorn.
What themes are you currently drawn to in your work?
Jen: Spirituality and faith
Cliff: Anxiety
What are you looking for in art/music? What are the boundaries that you look to explore with art/music?
Cliff: Immortality
Jen: Just keep making music. I’m very happy with the collaboration with Cliff; we share the same 80s, new wave, and rock influences, and it’s very satisfying to see a project grow like this. Music helps to say what you feel inside, so it’s magical to to create it.
What is sound to you? When did you first fall in love with sound?
Jen: I do remember being totally stoked when I first heard the French band Indochine at age 11, then Peter Murphy, Lana Del Rey, and even more recently, I discovered bands like New Candys and Vioflesh, who gave something special to my heart.
Cliff: I’m a synesthete. For me, everything has sound or color! It’s a joy and a pain.

How are your music pieces created? Where does the impulse to create something come from for you?
Jen: I guess it’s something from the very bottom of my heart.
Cliff: I wouldn’t really say it, I compose all the time with very different instruments.
How do your surroundings impact your art?
Jen: I love loneliness, I love thinking about many things, I love reading about spirituality, and I love listening to music all the time. I guess it’s a mix of all that.
Cliff: I am a person with autism. Everything has an impact on me. I have to deal with everything that surrounds me in my life, it’s the same in music.
What artistic influences, outside of music, have had a significant influence on how you approach your art?
Cliff: Movies, a lot of movies, Van Gogh’s paintings. I like fantasy, surrealism, pixel art!
Jen: I’m pretty old school. Dark 80s and goth music are my main influences in my life in general. I just want to bring something very honest and respectful of myself to everything I do.
Recently, your fantastic single „Sinner Sinner“ was released. Following „Suffer Well,“ this marks your second collaboration. What inspired you to write the song? How did „Sinner Sinner come to life? How did you combine your ideas during the creative process?
Jen: For „Sinner Sinner,“ it was a very old demo written in 2020 that I called „Wolf.“ I never released it. After the great job we did on „Suffer Well“ last winter, I sent Cliff the demo of „Sinner Sinner“ in March, and he just killed it—adding guitars, synths, and his own vocals … he honestly stunned the song. He has the ability to immediately understand where we want to go. Then we wrote the lyrics together, and he produced and directed the music video. So easy, so cool, and so badass.
Cliff: Refered to Jen’s answer.
How did you come up with the concept for the visual interpretation of this song? What inspires your creative vision, and how do you transform the music into imagery?
Jen: I told Cliff I wanted something 80s with some glitches and stuff. That’s it! Then I told him that he could do what he wanted, so he had this idea: black and white, our faces, a poppy. As the song is very spiritual and I’m very religious, I had this idea with the rosary. He just killed it. It’s by far one of the best music videos for the BMH project!
Cliff: Refered to Jen’s answer.
Is Cliff expected to participate in future releases and continue as part of Bliss My Heart?
Cliff: YES, but shh it’s a secret!
Jen: He sent me many demos he made, and I told him he wouldn’t have a choice but to release them because they’re beyond that good. So I really hope we will release a new single with a track he wrote. This deserves to be exposed to the public. But as he said, it’s a secret!
What’s next for you? What are you most looking forward to?
Cliff: Make other singles.
Jen: For the moment, I am working a lot on the promotion of „Sinner Sinner“. As I have my own booking agency, I work with many bands to book tours fort hem all over the world. I have a big European tour as tour manager in October with a great band, Ratchet Dolls, from Texas. Then I hope we can start to work on a new single soon!
