Who is behind Dust in Mind?
First of all, Damien. He created this project alone at the beginning. He wanted to create more „soft“ compositions than in his previous projects and had the idea of a project inspired by Pain.
He then looked for a singer, Jennifer (myself). Then we created an EP together. Afterwards we recruited musicians to found a band. We’ve had a few line up changes during these few years and now the band consists of the following members:
Damien – Guitars / vocals
Jen – Vocals
Xavier – Bass
Jackou – Drums
Yann – Guitars

Damien takes care of the composition of all the songs, the recording, the mix, the master, he films and realizes our music videos and photo shootings. He manages absolutely everything in the band with his production company PSYRUS STUDIO. I assist in all these areas and take care of writing texts.

If you had to put your music into a drawer and print a label on it, what would it say?
#NO FILTER!
Because our words are without filters. I do not use metaphors in my lyrics, I express what I feel. Depending on the song. I do not calculate anything.

Forget about genres for a second – Dust in Mind’s music sounds like …?
Metal in general, with heavy accentuations, groovy electro sounds. Two singers: the reminiscent of „Beauty and the Beast“. Modernity. Freshness. Frank talk.

Which record would you want to listen to when you leave the bathroom in the morning, while the beautiful girl from last night is still in your bed?
So you want to talk about a man for me? (smiles)
It would not be metal, but rather something ambient like Sigur Rós or Wardruna.

The Fairy-Godmother pops up in front of you and grants you a wish. What do you wish for?
Go on a world tour with Korn and Pain. At the same time.

No alcohol is no solution either. What booze combination willl definitely dissolve all your troubles and issues?
Personally, alcohol has never solved anything, but a glass of red wine does a lot of good.

What shows you that someone is a true friend?
A real friend will have qualities of loyalty. The principles. Someone who supports you no matter what.

Who was the hero of your childhood?
Victoria from the Spice Girls. Yes. When I was 10 years old. Hahaha. Later, it was Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil. The one that made me want to sing! She’s the best at so many points for me.

What is the most embarrassing/surprising record in your CD-shelf?
Surprising: I’m a huge fan of Supertramp!
Embarassing: … I have tons of CDs that could be embarrassing, but I appreciate everything! It’s a part of me! I’m a big fan of Dance from the 90s – Gala, Haddaway, Faithless and Corona are my best friends for my perfect evenings!

What’s next? Tour? Studio? Vacation? Something completely different?
We have just released our album From Ashes To Flames. Now we will release several exclusive videos, „behind the scenes“ of our music videos, but also videos „track by track“, to tell you a little more about the songs.
We are preparing a tour for spring 2019.
Thank you very much!
