If you had to put your music into a drawer and print a label on it, what would it say?
“Life” – My music along with my family is everything to me, the air that I breathe and I can’t live without it.
Forget about genres for a second – Ereb Altor’s music sounds like …?
Dark and cold like Scandinavia.
Which sort of mood produces the best songs?
I am not sure if there has to be a special mood, it’s more or less to be one with myself and sink into a state that could be called “writing mode”. It helps to have the time to be alone though. Long walks and lonely nights in the dungeon where we have our studio are essential ingredients.
Which instrument will surely NEVER be heard on an Ereb Altor-album?
There are probably a lot of instruments that never will be heard on an Ereb Altor album, the first that came to my mind right now is accordion. Not because I hate accordions, but it’s not a fitting instrument for Scandinavian metal.
Which record would you want to listen to when you leave the bathroom in the morning, while the beautiful girl from last night is still in your bed?
Hahhaha …. Do I need any special album for that occasion? I probably would like to hear music I truly enjoy, „Strange Days“ with the Doors for instance. „When the music is over“ is a killer song and suits this situation.
The Fairy-Godmother pops up in front of you and grants you a wish. What do you wish for?
I really want a teleportation device, then I could sell our touring van and save a lot of time and effort.
No alcohol is no solution either. What booze combination will definitely dissolve all your troubles and issues?
Absinthe mixed with Absinthe.
What shows you that someone is a true friend?
A person you can talk to about everything, when nothing is too embarrassing and secret. These persons and relations are very rare.
Who was the hero of your childhood?
Gandalf the Grey was my hero and he still kind of is.
What is the most embarrassing/surprising record in your CD-shelf?
Aerosmith, I hate them! It’s my wife’s though.
What’s next? Tour? Studio? Vacation? Something completely different?
It’s a combination of touring and studio work. I have already started the long process of composing the next album and I am currently doing some pre-productions of my ideas. We are also going on tour in March/April with Månegarm and Skyforger and after that it’s almost time for the festival season.
No rest for the wicked I suppose.
