Man könnte meinen, mit der Band Within Temptation hat er genug zu tun – falsch gedacht. Gitarrist Ruud Jolie hat das Soloprojekt For all we know gestartet. Er war so nett, unsere Fragen zu beantworten.
Who is behind For all we know?
It’s the sideproject of Ruud Jolie (Within Temptation) together with vocalist Wudstik. He writes all the music and lyrics. In the studio they get help from Kristoffer Gildenlöw (ex-Pain of Salvation) on bass, Marco Kuypers on keys (ex-Cloudmachine), Thijs Schrijnemakers on Hammonds (Orgel Vreten) and Léo Margarit (Pain of Salvation) on drums.
If you had to put your music into a drawer and print a label on it, what would it say?
Atmospheric Progessive Rock/Metal
Forget about genres for a second – For all we know’s music sounds like …?
Waking up on a sunny morning, having breakfast while clouds emerge, showering in the rain, putting your clothes on during a thunderstorm and walking the dog in the post-storm sunshine. That’s when your actual day will begin.
Which sort of mood produces the best songs?
Can be anything. Bad moods produce positive songs and good moods produce dark songs.
Either Didjeridoo or a Waldhorn Octet.
Which record would you want to listen to when you leave the bathroom in the morning, while the beautiful girl from last night is still in your bed?
Something by Dillinger Escape Plan because I would want her to leave. I don’t like strange women in my bed.
The Fairy-Godmother pops up in front of you and grants you a wish. What do you wish for?
Lots of awesome Star Wars movies in the future.
No alcohol is no solution either. What booze combination will definitely dis
solve all your troubles and issues?
Just a good strong beer.
What shows you that someone is a true friend?
Taking/spending time. Time is the most valuable asset you have as a person in my opinion.
Who was the hero of your childhood?
Luke Skywalker
Maybe something by Barbra Streisand. I love her music.
What’s next? Tour? Studio? Vacation? Something completely different?
First I will do a couple of gigs with Maiden uniteD (my acoustic Iron Maiden Tribute band). On January 27th we will do a very special gig in ‘Koninklijk Theater Carré’ in Amsterdam, a very prestigeous theatre. We will have lots of guests like Sharon Den Adel (Within Temptation), Dennis Stratton (ex-Iron Maiden), Perttu Kivilaakso (Apocalyptica) and Wudstik (For all we know).

March 17th De Boerderij in Zoetermeer.
After that I hope to have a bit of a vacation before Within Temptation will hit the studio. In October the European tour will start. It will be a busy year. (smiles)
