Diese Woche haben wir wieder Musik aus dem hohen Norden für euch herausgesucht. Die Band Ocean Dark steht bereits mit ihrem kommenden Album Hope & Chaos in den Startlöchern. Sänger Olli hat sich unseren Fragen gestellt.
Who is behind Ocean dark?
I (Olli) came up with the band name. I had an old logo I wanted to use and found the „right“ name for the band.
If you had to put your music into a drawer and print a label on it, what would it say?
Anything and everything. The print would say „the well kept secret of Finland“.
Forget about genres for a second – Ocean dark music sounds like …?
Ocean Dark sounds like a Nordic man’s soul. A bit dark, still something hopeful, angry yet kind and friendly.
Which sort of mood produces the best songs?
This is a tough one. I usually don’t have any special moods when I create. I’m a professional songwriter, all I really need is to feel inspired.
Which instrument will surely NEVER be heard on a Ocean dark album?
There’s not an instrument that couldn’t be on our album (I know this is a boring answer), we love all the instruments, the more, the better *smile.
Something soft, maybe a good country ballad with acoustic guitar and a soft voice.
The Fairy-Godmother pops up in front of you and grants you a wish. What do you wish for?
I wish tons of gigs, health for the future years, so we can do what we love to do = touring, recording etc.
What booze combination will definitely dissolve all your troubles and issues?
Ahh, I hardly use alcohol- so I guess something like Finnish Karhu booze with a little shot of Finnish Vodka.
What shows you that someone is a true friend?
A true friend is not the one who’s there when you are facing tough times, it’s the one who’s still there when you succeed and do well in life.
Who was the hero of your childhood?
My childhood heroes were North America’s wild Indians.
What is the most embarrassing/surprising record in your CD-shelf?
The most surprising CD in my CD-shelf is an old Hanson album. I remember when I went to buy it, the lady behind the desk asked me „Are you sure you want to buy this?“.
What’s next? Tour? Studio? Vacation? Something completely different?
