Omnimar ist ein Duo aus dem schönen Moskau. Maria Mar und Alex Vrt fanden sich 2011 und machen seitdem zusammen Musik. Sie fühlen sich im Wave-/Dark-Electro-Kosmos sehr wohl. Die beiden standen uns Rede und Antwort.
Who is behind Omnimar?
We are Maria (vocals, music, video) and Alex (music, sound design).
If you had to put your music into a drawer and print a label on it, what would it say?
Maria: Be careful. It’s addictive!
Alex: Open on the day of the end of the world.
Forget about genres for a second – Omnimar music sounds like …?
Maria: An endless ocean full of surprises.
Alex: Imagine a dark room with black walls. Neon white lights line the walls. In the center of the room there is a vase the color of red wine. There’s crushed ice in it.
Which sort of mood produces the best songs?
Maria: Any sort of mood, but in most cases being awake in the thick of night.
Alex: The best songs were created at night. Night has everything for the right mood – silence, darkness and peace. It’s like there’s nothing else in the world but what I do.
Which instrument will surely NEVER be heard on an Omnimar album?
Maria: Bagpipes.
Alex: The hornpipe. We are at different poles with this instrument. Also I deliberately try to avoid using electric guitars in our songs. For 50 years, the musicians have already done everything possible with it. But there are exceptions – sometimes it is very appropriate.
Which record would you want to listen to when you leave the bathroom in the morning, while the beautiful girl/handsome boy from last night is still in your bed?
Maria: Any track in the situation described. Yes please.
Alex: Carl Orff – O Fortuna. I imagine so. I know, too much pathos. I can’t think about anything else in this situation.
The Fairy-Godmother pops up in front of you and grants you a wish. What do you wish for?
Maria: An army of slaves organising and editing our music videos.
Alex: A home for every lonely cat in the world.
No alcohol is no solution either. What booze combination will definitely dissolve all your troubles and issues?
Maria: Rum with Alex’ tears (after the album mixing is finished).
Alex: Hmm, so far alcohol hasn’t solved any of my problems. But I keep trying with white wine. I won’t give up.
What shows you that someone is a true friend?
Maria: When he or she invites me to a sushi restaurant in any life situation and doesn’t discuss other people with me.
Alex: To be honest, I don’t know. Not because I don’t have friends. But true friendship is something of a higher order.
Who was the hero of your childhood?
Maria: Till Lindemann and Hordon Freeman from Half Life.
Alex: Of course, Chuck Norris. No one is cooler than Walker, Texas Ranger.
What is the most embarrassing/surprising record in your CD-shelf?
Maria: Probably an early collection of very famous today Russian band Leningrad, where 95% of lyrics were swear words and each of 60 songs were devoted to a girl with a different name.
Alex: Modern Talking – The First Album.
What’s next? Tour? Studio? Vacation? Something completely different?
Omnimar: New album and number of new music videos are to follow end 2020 / 1st half of 2021.
