Who is behind Schoolcraft?
Schoolcraft is my solo project that I started in 2010. I, Lindsay Schoolcraft, am the main song writer and the project is entirely my vision.
I sing, play harp and piano, and am the main song writer. I also have Spencer Creaghan as my orchestral composer and arranger, Tyler Williams as my producer and now song writing collaborator, Scott Brindley on drums, Nathen Morrison on cello, and Tegan Ridge on live piano.

LindsayIf you had to put your music into a drawer and print a label on it, what would it say?
Musical-Theatre-Fairytale-Cello-Rock

How would you describe the sound of Schoolcraft to a deaf person?
Something that will move your soul, something you can relate to for the struggles you have gone through in your life.

Which sort of panic inspires the best songs?
I would say when I am saddest or angriest, when I’m feeling absolutely torn and hopeless about something is when I write my best music.

Which instrument will surely NEVER be heard on a Schoolcraft-album?
I am open to a lot and will have many new instruments on the next full length album, which I will start demoing in the Spring of 2015. I will probably never have a banjo! But you just never know!

Which record would you want to listen to when you leave the bathroom in the morning, while the beautiful guy from last night is still in your bed?
HAHA wow! That is the first time I have ever been asked that question!
Probably Queen’s Greatest Hits (Hollywood editions). Yup. That run from We Will Rock You, to We Are The Champions, and then into Another One Bites The Dust is just too perfect.

Which song would you be proud of, had you written it?
Oh wow, there are too many to list! Probably Farther Away by Evanescence.

No alcohol is surely NOT the answer 1517719_821233557919403_8400232744633168783_n– after which combination of booze will all your problems have dissolved?
I have some strange combinations on tour with Cradle of Filth. I showed Dani Filth the red wine mixed with coke and now, for some strange reason, he added energy drink to it too! It’s weird, but sometimes good.

What shows you that someone is a true friend?
Someone who is loyal, honest, and trustworthy. Someone who will try to make you laugh to cheer you up when you’re down. Someone who understands you and just accepts you for who you are.

Who was the hero of your childhood?
I think Airazor from Beast Wars (Beasties). She didn’t take shit from anyone and she was the only chick in a group of guys. I could really relate to that. Plus her beast-mode was my favourite animal: A Peregrine Falcon. I know, it’s not a real person, but it was inspiration regardless. Growing up as a Tom Boy it made sense.

Are we alone out there?
Goodness no. Whether it be ghosts or aliens, something is going on!

What’s next? Tour? Studio? Vacation? Something completely different?
Right now I am swamped in working on the next album for Cradle of Filth working title Hammer of the Witches due out June 26th on Nuclear Blast Records. I am also working on a winter solo release for Schoolcraft due out around the end of February 2015. So I will be in the studio a lot this first half of the year and then festivals with Cradle of Filth start in June. My best friend’s wedding is in May and that is also going to keep me pretty busy too!
