Six Inch is an alternative rockband from Finland. The four guys are really humorous and passionate musicians. Well, you might not know Six Inch here in Germany already. Andy, singer of Six Inch, and Kim, bassist, took the time to answer my questions.

Six Inch – Alternative Rock from Finland

Kyra Cade: Can you introduce yourselves, please?
Six Inch: Hi! We are goddamn Six Inch! (laughing)

K. C.: How do you describe your music?
S.I.: Our music is powerful, melancholic and a bit twisted. We combine alternative, rock, metal and industrial in our music. So we could say that our music is quite versatile with complicated and violent lyrics.

K. C.: Is there a reason why you have called the band “Six Inch”?
S.I.: Finnish men’s average penis size but it’s not the size of the band. It’s just how you play it.

K. C.: Why and when did you found the band?
S.I.: The band was founded in 2010 to rock out the world! Our singer Andy joined the band in 2011 and our violinist Pinja joined the band like a week ago.

K. C.: When did you start playing music?
S.I.: Approximately 15 years ago.

K. C.: Which performers did affect you?
S.I.: Marilyn Manson, Korn, Nine Inch Nails, HIM, Olavi Virta, Tapio Rautavaara, Foo Fighters, Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, Muse.

Bratwurst, sauerkraut and Rammstein

K. C.: Have you ever been on stage in Germany?
S.I.: No we haven’t but hopefully ASAP we will!

K. C.: What do you associate with Germany?
S.I.: Bratwurst, sauerkraut, beer and German hardcore porn.

K. C.: Do you know any German alternative rock or metal bands?
S.I.: Guano Apes and of course your famous Rammstein which is industrial metal we think.

K. C.: Is your Finnish metal different?
S.I.: Finnish metal is usually very melancholic and rough. There are not so many alternative metal bands in Finland so we are trying to make something new to the music scene and that’s why we got violinist in our group with melancholic and sad melodies. Gothic style!

K. C.: Are you singing in Finnish, either?
S.I.: Doesn’t fit for us. Only in drunk karaoke.

K. C.: When is the release of your debut album?
S.I.: Hopefully during this year. At the moment we are recording drums to the debut album. First single of the forthcoming album will be released during the summer.

„Bring Jim Morrison alive!“

K. C.: What can we expect?
S.I.: Dark and more melodic than our earlier production. Music that fits to zombie movies and sex. Big sounds and movie atmosphere.

K. C.: Is there a performer you eventually want to work with?
S.I.: Marilyn Manson would be awesome! Please bring Jim Morrison alive!

K. C.: Which goals do you set for the next years?
S.I.: Record deal, a lot of gigs and many many lovely fans.

K. C.: Any last words?
S.I.: „Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God! The Lord is One!“ – Rabbi Akiba Ben Joseph
Hah hah hah hah! Like us on facebook!

K. C.: Thank you very much for this interview!
S.I.: Thanks a lot! It was a pleasure!
