Während des Dark Munich Festivals vom 30. April bis 3. Mai tritt auch eine Band aus Estland auf: Freakangel. Ihre musikalische Mischung aus Elektronik-Industrial-Metal präsentierten sie schon bei mehreren Festivals, zum Beispiel auch in Finnland und England. Zur Einstimmung für Ihren Münchner Auftritt beim Dark Munich Festival hat sich Frontmann Darling die Zeit genommen, unsere Fragen zu beantworten:
Who is behind Freakangel?
We are just a bunch of crazy kids doing what we like the most … music. We like music in all shapes and forms and we all have a different musical background … from metal to trance music. Freakangel is something that we can call home. Everyone in the band has something else on his hands. You might heard about me by my electro band Suicidal Romance that I’ve started in 2006 and my boys Art and Roman are very good in playing death metal in their very own band Beyond the Structure.
If you had to put your music into a drawer and print a label on it, what would it say?
I definitely wouldn’t do that. I’m totally against putting any labels on what we are doing. I think that our listeners should be the ones who might be interested in doing this. I mean … we are doing music, we are not trying to follow any trends … it might happen that we get influenced by something and then getting carried away, but the point I’m trying to make is that you need to stay by your own vision, and telling something like “Hey, we are playing industrial” won’t make any good. You still would like to hear what label we would put on it? Okay … “Be yourself”.
In May 2015 you will visit Munich for the Dark Munich Festival. What do you know about Munich and the Bavarian audience?
We performed at DMF in 2013 and we really enjoyed being there. This festival is amazing! Mucky is a great organizer and a very nice guy! Talking about Munich … welll … Munich is a wonderful place for beer lovers like us. Beer gardens are our favourite places to spend spare time! Can’t wait to get back!
Have you ever visited the Bavarian capital? And if so, what stuck in your memory? Which sights or attractions would you like to see or can you recommend to your colleagues and visitors of DMF?

What can we expect from your gig at DMF?
We will be on tour and before visiting DMF we will give concerts in Latvia and Poland. We are still touring with our third album The ones to fall that was released in the end of 2013 … It will be our first time in Germany with this album so be ready to mosh. We love moshing!
What will be next for you: Tour? Recording? Time off? Or rather something completely different?
At the moment we are working on our new DVD that will be released online free of charge in the next few months and it looks that we will be visiting USA and Mexico for two weeks in the end of this summer … Exciting as hell! At the same time we are working on our 4th album … Damn … we have lots of things to do.
