Who is behind LYRRE?
It’s me (Michalina Malisz, ex-Eluveitie) and my husband Piotr (Netherfell). We started working on LYRRE two years ago and invited our drummer Tomasz and bass player Miłosz maybe one year go.

If you had to put your music into a drawer and print a label on it, what would it say?
A label on our drawer could say „epic metal with hurdy-gurdy“. Looking for a more poetic term we came up with „neo-medieval metal“.

Forget about genres for a second – LYRRE’s music sounds like …?
Like a clash of two machines: one made of metal and one made of wood. From the chaos of this clash emerges something new and beautiful.

Which sort of mood produces the best songs?
I would describe this mood as euphoria, excitation.

Which instrument will surely NEVER be heard on a LYRRE album?
I would never say never on that topic, creative sound production tricks can make the dullest sounds work wonders for a song!

Which record would you want to listen to when you leave the bathroom in the morning, while last night’s very attractive company is still in your bed?
„Spaceman“ by Electric Callboy is always a great morning song.

The Fairy-Godmother pops up in front of you and grants you a wish. What do you wish for?
We wish to play Wacken main stage in a few years.

No alcohol is no solution either. What booze combination will definitely dissolve all your troubles and issues?
Each of us has a different approach, but speaking for myself  – I prefer alcohol-free beer.

What shows you that someone is a true friend?
True friends stab you in the front.

Who was the hero of your childhood?
I think Apocalyptica – I suppose they influenced my thinking about using unusual instruments in metal music a lot.

What is the most embarrassing/surprising record on your CD-shelf?
Probably Schrei by Tokio Hotel.

What’s next? Tour? Studio? Vacation? Something completely different?
Actually all of those, but in a different order – currently we’re working hard at the studio to finish our first album. In the meantime, we will have about one week’s vacation and next year we would love to play shows!
