Can you tell us who is behind Trope?
Moonhead came up with the bandname, it basically means „cliche“. We wanted something simple and easy to remember, and easy to say. And also a little tongue in cheek.

If you had to put your music into a drawer and print a label on it, what would it say?
It would say, do not put dirty underwear here. Or socks and undies only. Or no drugs allowed. Or, nothing of value in here.

Forget about genres for a second – Trope’s music sounds like …?
We are like Days Of The New meets Joni Mitchel live, that’s what one fan said. We’ve heard a lot of people say like an acoustic Tool with a female singer. Diana gets likened to Kate Bush, Joni Mitchel, Tori Amos, Amy Lee but I think she doesn’t sound like anyone else. She is truly unique. And awesome.

Which sort of mood produces the best songs?
I think when we’re either sad as shit or pissed off. Usually happiness and a sense of peace won’t produce as many songs as the motivating aspect of your heart being ripped out of your chest, or responding to the state of our microcosm, which is usually in a state of decay and entropy.

Which person, artist or incident inspired you when you first started making music?
That would be different for both of us. For Moonhead, it was a lot of 80’s music, especially Blue Murder, Peter Gabriel, Led Zeppelin and Beatles, and then the whole grunge alternative thing. For Diana, it was heavy prog bands like Dream Theater and Symphony X, then quite a bit of pop stuff from the songwriter perspective, like Tori Amos, Kate Bush etc.

No alcohol is no solution either. What booze combination will definitely dissolve all your troubles and issues?
Jack or Whiskey pressed is the way. Which is Jack Daniels with soda water and a splash of coke. Or a really good red wine like Brunello, Barolo or Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Which record would you want to listen to when you leave the bathroom in the morning, while the beautiful company from last night is still in your bed?
„We gotta get out of this place“ by The Animals.

The Fairy-Godmother pops up in front of you and grants you a wish. What do you wish for?
World Peace would be ideal.

What is the most embarrassing/surprising record in your CD shelf?
No surprising ones really, there’s some very different stuff for sure, like Gus Gus and Low Roar or Jeff Buckley. Duo Lipa is fantastic and her band is fire.

What’s next? Tour? Studio? Vacation? Something completely different?
We are about to tour the US with Soen, and are finishing our sophomore double album Dyad to be released sometimes in the summer. Our single „Callous“ will be out probably by the time you read this.
Danke!
