Das schwedische Label Progress Productions unter Gründer und Chef Torny Gottberg steht schon seit 2004 für eine exzellente Auswahl an Synth-, Pop- und anderen Elektronikkünstlern (Agent Side Grinder, Spark!, Johan Baeckström, Henric de la Cour, Kite, Cryo …). Die neueste Verpflichtung ist das Duo TUKT („Zucht“ auf Schwedisch), das seinen Hörern mit einer sehr tanzbaren und schön aggressiven Mischung aus EBM und metallischer Härte einheizt. Die beiden Stockholmer Roy und Matte haben sich unseren Fragen gestellt.
Who is behind TUKT?
Matte: I would say ROY!
Roy: It’s me who makes the depraved noise and Matte who provides that noise with a voice.
If you had to put your music into a drawer and print a label on it, what would it say?
Matte: Dirty Laundry! Seriously I don’t know, or care for that matter. There are too many genres these days … so it could be just about anything haha.
Roy: Scheiße.
Forget about genres for a second – TUKT’s music sounds like …?
Matte: Well, it sounds good I hope, haha. It’s electronic music with a touch of rock/metal.
Roy: A mix of anger, sadness and frustration.
Which sort of mood produces the best songs?
Matte: The drunk mode.
Roy: It doesn’t matter what mood if it’s sincere.
Which instrument surely will NEVER be heard on a TUKT-album?
Matte: Hopefully none, I’m all open to new ideas and sounds. Anything goes as long as it sounds good.
Roy: I guess you won’t ever hear a Theremin dressed as a badger in a TUKT track? I can’t rule it out though.
Which record would you want to listen to when you leave the bathroom in the morning, while the beautiful girl from last night is still in your bed?
Matte: It would be a song, „Run to the hills“ (Maiden)
Roy: The Cure – Pornography
The Fairy Godmother pops up in front of you and grants you a wish. What do you wish for?
Matte: You are not supposed to tell your wishes, or they will not come true …
Roy: That won’t ever happen. I don’t believe in fairy tales.
No alcohol is no solution either. What booze combination will definitely dissolve all your troubles and issues?
Matte: Gin and fucken Tonic.
Roy: Vodka + ice + Louisiana hot sauce + Diet coke. Kills everything.
What shows that someone is a true friend?
Matte: Brings you gin and tonic?
Roy: Someone who listens when you need it the most – and brings you vodka.
Who was the hero of your childhood?
Matte: My father.
Roy: I don’t have any childhood heroes besides my parents who granted me a life. That’s pretty heroic – at least for me.
What is the most embarrassing / surprising record on your CD shelf?
Matte: I have no such things, just good music.
Roy: Virgin Voices – A tribute to Madonna.
What’s next? Tour? Studio? Vacation? Something completely different?
Matte: Continuing working on TUKT stuff, hopefully knock you of your seats with our coming material. Stay tuned!
Roy: We are working on getting the album done. That’s our main priority right now. The album will be released via Progress Productions so keep your jockstraps hidden until then.
