Kyiv Calling
Die ukrainische Punkband Beton (Бетон) aus Kyjiw hat inmitten des russischen Angriffskrieges eine Cover-Version des Punk-Klassikers „London Calling“ von The Clash aufgenommen und dabei den Text auf die aktuelle Situation angepasst. Das Ergebnis heißt nun „Kyiv Calling“ und löst gerade im Zusammenhang mit den erschütternden Originalaufnahmen im Video Gänsehaut aus.
Der Song wurde in Lwiw aufgenommen, wo es im Verhältnis zu Kyjiw momentan noch einigermaßen sicher ist. Beton möchte damit auf die prekäre Situation in der Ukraine aufmerksam machen und ruft in dem Zusammenhang natürlich auch zu Spenden auf.

Ми на це все мали 3 дні. І якось несподівано все вдалося легко і невимушено, команда продюсерів і піарників з Англії легко прийняла кавер, музиканти з The Clash нас благословили. І почали ми свою роботу:
– репетиції на EF-Studio
– записали інструменти і вокал на africa.records
– технічна підтримка FatSound Rental & Engineering
– відео нам зняв там же і зрежисував Alexander Kulyk
– зведення і мастеринг – від Skyborn Waves
– продюсинг треку – Danny Saber (Los Angeles, CA)

We just have an incredible event here. We raise money to support our country around the world with the help of punk rock. So the story is this – a few days ago a friend of the Free Ukraine Resistance Movement wrote to us and asked if we would like to officially try to make a cover of the legendary The Clash“s London Calling, remake the cover according to the war in Ukraine.

We all had 3 days for this. And suddenly everything turned out easily and effortlessly, the team of producers and publicists from England easily accepted the cover, the musicians from The Clash blessed us. And we started our work.
