If you had to put your music intoa drawer and print a label on it, what would it say?
Forget about genres for a second – Diabulus in Musica-music sounds like …?
Z: A mixture between classical, cinematic and metal music along with some ethnic, mystic and ambient elements.
Which sort of mood produces the best songs?
Z: That’s very personal and subjective. The key for me to like it is the balance between different moods. Music has to make me travel to different landscapes, through different emotions… It has to make me dream , if not, I don’t find any magic on it and find it boring. Music is self-expression and as you don’t feel the same everyday, neither does music sound always the same.
Which instrument will surely NEVER be heard on a Diabulus in Musica-album?
Z: I would never say no to any instrument or sound. Actually we have used a lot already and we will continue trying new things for the same reason I told before. Music is expression and new sounds help to achieve different moods.
Which record would you want to listen to when you leave the bathroom in the morning, while the beautiful girl from last night is still in your bed?
Z: Usually my handsome husband wakes up earlier than me, so I cannot really imagine that situation (lächelt).
The Fairy-Godmother pops up in front of you and grants you a wish. What do you wish for?
Z: To keep my loved ones always close to me. If it was not abusive to ask just a bit more, I wouldn’t mind living only on music as well!
No alcohol is no solution either. What booze combination will definitely dissolve all your troubles and issues?
Z: I wish I know the perfect cocktail for that! But for the moment I’m more than happy with the delicious red wine from my homeland.
What shows you that someone is a true friend?
Z: I have very good friends but I must admit that for the moment I wouldn’t risk my neck for anyone. Unfortunately I have experienced quite a few disappointments already…
Who was the hero of your childhood?
Z: My imaginary friend. He was a cute little ghost that knew a lot about life. He left when I became a teen, but taught me many interesting things!
Z: That would depend on what you find embarrassing or surprising. I think people who know me wouldn’t be surprised … I love many different kinds of music apart from metal. Maybe the most ´specific´one is purist Early music especially from the Spanish Renaissance period.
What’s next? Tour? Studio? Vacation? Something completely different?
