Diese Woche möchte ich euch Hidden Mothers aus Sheffield vorstellen. Die Jungs haben sich dem Post Black Metal verschrieben, viel Spaß beim Lesen des Interviews.
Who is behind Hidden Mothers?
The members of Hidden Mothers are Steffan (harsh vocals), Luke (guitar and clean vocals), Arian (guitar), Liam (bass) and Adam (drums).
Forget about genres for a second – Hidden Mothers‘ music sounds like …?
Anguish and misery, with riffs. Deeply serious music made by deeply unserious people.
Which sort of mood produces the best songs?
Somehow us being in a positive, upbeat mood at practice makes for the most productive writing sessions for the miserable music we make.
Which person, artist or incident inspired you when you first started making music?
It varies for all the members, but we came together over a shared love of bands like Oathbreaker, Amenra, Deafheaven, Converge and a few others.
The Fairy-Godmother pops up in front of you and grants you a wish. What do you wish for?
A nicer room to practice and write in, ours is pretty gross!
No alcohol is no solution either. What booze combination will definitely dissolve all your troubles and issues?
We keep Stancill, our local brewery, very well funded. We’re also partial to a Jagerbomb or twelve.
Who was the hero of your childhood?
This is hard to answer because there’s a 10+ year age gap across the band, so we’ll just say that we’re our own childhood heroes.
What is the most embarrassing/surprising record on your CD-shelf?
There’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure, but we do listen to “Polkaholica” by Expulze & Narfos an unhealthy amount.
What’s next? Tour? Studio? Vacation? Something completely different?
We are currently putting the finishing touches on the writing of our debut album, which will be recorded and (hopefully) released in 2023. We’re also planning plenty of shows both before and after our debut festival appearance at ArcTanGent festival in August. We’re very excited to play that event alongside some of our biggest influences.
